Talkbox vst or similar vst with Talkbox effect??Just asking if anyone knows of a GOOD Talkbox vst plugin?? I dont like the mda-talkbox so called vst plugin, cant get the effect I want, or am I doing the settings wrong to get this effect??

Played with the vst for a few minutes and could not find the sound I wanted. Its moreless the Roger Troutman effect from talkbox (I.E. Computer love & 2Pac's California Love songs) I want to know if there is a good plugin that can get me close. It does not have to be perfect, but atleast close to sound like Roger.Whats up with FL Studio's Vocoder tweeks for talkbox effect?? Anyone know more on that??I am asking to see. I heard Antares has a new AutoTune EVO 6 out and can work close to a TalkBox. But I am not sure.Maybe I will just have to go find a good talkbox unit with the tube and go this way.

Anyone know of a good brand and if I purchase one, if I can connect it to my PC with a USB plug or a MIDI plug?? And is it compatible with Sonar??Thanks. Reason 4.0 has a vocoder and it sounds close to a talkbox. You can rewire it with sonar. If you where to buy a talk box, you should get a Banshee talkbox.

It's cheap and comes with a built in amp. You would also need a keyboard that has a good talkbox lead. Roger Troutman used the yamaha dx100 it's vintage but if you post a add on craigslist in your area I bet you could find one and if you can't find one you could use the talkbox with a Micro Korg. Once you get it. Just get a 1/4 cable plug it into the(phones jack) back of your keyboard then to the right side of the banshee. Get another 1/4 cable and plug the Mono out from the back of the keyboard to your mixer input or anywhere you can plug in a extra mic.

When you do get it hooked up remember not to actually talk into the talkbox, just sound out the words. Go to youtube and type in talkbox for more details. They even have videos on how to make your own talkbox.Take it easyDoc.

Cool thanks to all of your answers. I guess the main thing is to just purchase the Talkbox unit itself to get the sound I am looking for. I would like to test all the VST plugins and see if any can get the sounds I want or artists I record want and look for. But I am leary about letting other artists use my talkbox equipment if I was to purchase a banshee. You know how some people dont take care when using your equipment, or moreless how would you clean the tube after someone other than you used it?? Soap and water?? Maybe I should get a second tube for someone else to use and have my own!!!!

LOL I am not sure. But I will look into the VST plugins first, then if I am not happy, then I will got check the units out personally. Thanks again.

One person's experience with the folks that developed Vokko. The good news is that it is really flexible, and you can - with some effort - get it to do some pretty cool things. The bad news is that the developer is less than entirely conscientious when it comes to support. He was, in my experience, difficult to reach, slow to respond, and unwilling to acknowledge problems. I also find his license to be a bit restrictive, especially since (at least back then) you had to pay to read it.I'm not going to go into details here, it was a long time ago, and perhaps others have had better experiences than I did - so I'll let them balance things out a bit.And for $20 I guess I can live with sub-standard support, but I don't have to like it!And in fact a big part of the reason I picked up Komplete3 was for Vokator, which is an equally powerful tool. My copy of Vokko sits on a CD somewhere should I need it to work on an old project. Jackn2mpuTo the OP:Do you want a talk box like the Heil one that Frampton uses or a vocoder?

They're two completely different things. Remember that a big part of the sound of a talkbox is the interaction of the sound coming up the tube with the player's mouth and with the microphone. A resonant tone-shaping chamber type of thing.I would like the effects that Roger Troutman gets from Talk Box.

I really have not heard Frampton (Or maybe I have just not noticed it as much) Vocoder I am willing to try, but I need to play with it and do the tweeks. But I am ready to go buy a Talk Box unit to get the sound I am looking for.

Im sure of it, the tube into the mic is a major part of the sound I want.So a Heil or Banshee might be what I am looking for?? Thanks for your advice. MistaMaccjackn2mpuTo the OP:Do you want a talk box like the Heil one that Frampton uses or a vocoder?

Did a Google search and found a YouTube vid of hime where he's using a talkbox of some kind - they don't show the floor so I don't know if it's a Heil or another one.Frampton is not the only one using a talkbox; Joe Walsh also uses one. You may know him.

I have heard of Frampton and Walsh, but I am not into their music as much as I am into Roger's. But I will do some looking around and find some songs by them two and see how the talk box sound they have and see if its also what I am looking for.

Thanks again.
